The first thing that caught my eye was the brilliant lighting, the sunlight coming in from above brings out certain colours in the fox's coat. Composition of the piece makes the fox seem very lonely but at the same time gives off a sense of secrecy as if one has simply stumbled across the clearing on a walk. The cool colours for the foreground give off a very cool feeling suggesting that the forest is quite cold. the visible brush strokes give a very warm texture to the painting making the painting a little kinder on the eyes than other paintings i find. The spider webs also add to the atmosphere saying that there is 'unseen' life around; Suggesting that the forest is the home of many other unseen ayakashi . I will always find this piece is a wonderfully peaceful and warm painting.
